“My little piece of heaven,” is how proud first-time home buyers Patricia and Mia describe their brand new Universal home. “Every morning I wake up just so happy to be in this home. Universal’s customer service has been amazing. From the beginning, when we first stepped foot in the Universal Homes Showhome to discuss buying a home off the plan, the journey has been incredible. The team has done a great job, in every aspect. We are so pleased with our new home!” We sat down with Patricia and Mia to chat with them about what they’ve learned as first home buyers, and how they found the process of buying a brand new home off the plan.
Easy process, quality product, great service
Patricia and daughter Mia purchased their three bedroom apartment from Universal Homes off the plan, which means agreeing to purchase a property from a developer while it’s in the process of being built. Asked how they found buying off the plan, Patricia explains, “The easy process, the quality of the house, the service that we have received from them are just a few of the things we have enjoyed about buying a home with Universal. It was a huge relief; Universal Homes’ customer service and simple process was great! Before, we were looking at buying with some other companies, and honestly it was a nightmare.”
“Buying off the plan with Universal Homes was not really a concern for us due to their great reputation in the industry and amongst other buyers. During our first meeting with the team, we were taken through a detailed walk-through of the plans, materials, and process. Compared to buying existing homes or apartments we have found the process to be relatively straightforward and stress-free. By having the team alongside us throughout the process, we were given confidence as first home buyers, and felt a lot of our stress was alleviated.”
Patricia and Mia were impressed with their owners’ inspections, and with the way the team kept them in the loop with updates as the build progressed. “We enjoyed looking through the interior when it came time for a site visit, and we loved what we saw.” Patricia adds, “I used to go every weekend to walk past the site and see how the build had advanced from the outside… I loved the journey a lot!”

Asked what the family enjoys most about their new home, Patricia comments, “Firstly that it’s ours, secondly that it’s warm, thirdly that it’s brand new… and located in such a good area. The space suits us, and the house has been designed very well.”

We really appreciate the design skill and thought that has gone into offering each Universal home its privacy. The construction is excellent quality. Whilst doing our first home inspection we could see that the home was designed with great style and thought.”
Apartment living stood out as a wise choice for Patricia and Mia. “Apartment living appealed as in some ways it felt safer to me, since there is usually someone around. It also means that you’re able to build good relationships with neighbours and gain more of a sense of community.”
“During the build, we just couldn’t wait to move in and decorate our new home. We have always lived in unit-style rentals and have never had the freedom to make the space our own. It’s great to be able to have family and friends over in the spacious living and outdoor areas. We are also really big animal lovers. Our new home is fully fenced which means we can adopt a dog to complete our family.”

Patricia and Mia were attracted to buy into an area with so many lovely walks and eateries to enjoy. “We always have pleasant and welcoming experiences when visiting local cafes and walks. We also like the fact that the area is close to both the North Shore and the city – it’s so well connected. I am a recreational cyclist and love the cycle lanes in this area of North West Auckland,” adds Patricia.
