Centrally located
With its central location and easy connections to the Harbour Bridge and city, Takapuna, and the North Shore, Northcote shines as a well-connected suburb. If you’d love to live close to beautiful beaches and parks, but want to stay close to the city, Northcote is the perfect spot. At only 15 minutes from the CBD off-peak and with good transport links in place with key arterial routes including excellent access to cycleways, the suburb is seeing the benefit of considerable government investment in its infrastructure and housing and becoming more vibrant by the year. New homes at the Northcote Redevelopment are within 3kms of North Shore Hospital and AUT’s North Campus, and less than 2kms from Smales Farm commercial hub.
Getting to and from Northcote is simple: excellent public transport is available on the Northern Busway, and Akoranga Bus station is nearby with a Park & Ride service available. Northern motorway access close by means you’re en route in no time whether your destination is the CBD, northwards, or south. Northcote is less than five minutes from the motorway exit in either direction. If you’d prefer an overseas adventure to start your day, catch the ferry from nearby Northcote Point or Birkenhead for a seaside commute to work, play, or explore the city.
Universal Homes first home buyer Thomas was drawn to the area because of its great location and excellent amenities. He comments, “Northcote is a pretty good area! It’s so close to the bridge and the city, and commuting is simple. It’s a very handy location. Further North, heading to great beaches is easy.”
Northcote’s redevelopment
The increased time we’ve spent at home over the last few years has made us all realise that life is better when you love the spot you’re in. Things like easy access to nature, friendly neighbours, and a low-maintenance new home can all make a big difference to our quality of life. Northcote’s already blessed with beautiful beaches, green spaces and a vibrant community. And it’s about to get even better. Significant government investment is being poured into Northcote to build on its strengths and prepare it for growth, including replacing old homes with warm, modern, low-maintenance dwellings, upgrading streets, infrastructure, walkways, parks, and the town centre – so you can be confident you’re buying a home in a great community you’ll enjoy living in for years to come.
Over the next five years, Northcote Development will see 1,700 new architecturally designed Homestar 6 rated apartments, terraces, duplexes and standalone homes built, along with new and renovated parks, and a new leafy greenway for walking and cycling. Plus, construction of a brand new town centre is planned soon. Locals already love this place – and you will too.
Shopping and entertainment
Residents in the Northcote Development have great access to a wide range of shopping and entertainment, with options in Northcote as well as plenty more at nearby Takapuna and Glenfield. These include boutiques, high street shopping, malls, Smales Farm commercial hub, large format retail stores at Wairau Valley, and many eateries. There are a range of supermarkets close by too, plus arguably Auckland’s most popular fresh fruit and vegetable shop, and plenty more amenities to cover all you’ll need.
Positioned on Northcote’s main road, Lake Road, opposite Greenslade Reserve, the Northcote town centre is a vibrant corner of Auckland. One of Northcote’s key community facilities, this is an interesting corner of Auckland to wander around, with top-class cheap eats on offer reflecting the cultural diversity of the area. As the natural heart of the local area, the town centre includes a range of shops and eateries, along with a library, community centre, and early learning centre. There’s always something creative and inspiring to see at Northart Gallery, a community art gallery showing local and national artists that’s also situated in the town centre. Northcote’s town centre is shortly to be completely renewed in a large-scale project being managed by Eke Panuku Development Auckland. It will be redeveloped in stages so that it can continue to provide for the community throughout this period.
